This kit is the first of its kind and allows the end user to further customize their feel by changing out the nib. Each nib uses a different polymer blend to alter the feel of the stick on the nib.
Green = Firm feel and the most durable
Orange = Medium feel and medium durable
Purple = Soft feel and least durable
The green nib featured in the kit is the default option that comes with the Tao V4 Kit.
To install this simply use the 0.9mm hex wrench that was included with your Tao V4 stick, remove the only nib assembly and slot in the new nib. You will have to tune your stick again after installing the new nib.
Compatibility
- Tao V4 OEM Pro Stick
- Tao V4 Slim Stick

Review:
I bought the Nib Kit because the nib is a "consumable" part of the Tao stick that can wear out, and when that time comes, I will have replacements while you have an expensive paperweight. That's the primary reason I got them, not to customize the feel. Think about it, this thing will last for 20-30 years—or who knows how long—and having replacement parts on-hand long after the amazing RockerGaming and Tao have moved on will be worth it to service this lovely "ascended" steel joystick. Next, I have only played with the softest nib. Personally, I love it. It seems to take the smoothness of the stock-feel and turns it into butter. I do find it's quite a subtle difference between the stock mid-weight green and soft purple, so in my opinion I don't think this is a major change and as mentioned is not the selling point for me. I haven't tried the firm orange nib yet. No comment there.
Thoughtful Notes on Replacement:
If you have a precision measuring tool, measure the length of your existing calibrated stick with existing nib as precisely as you can before beginning so that you can easily reset after the swap. Fully unscrew the adjustment core (from memory, it's counter-clockwise... you can really only go 1 direction because the wrong direction will reach a dead end) which will eventually eject the adjustment cylinder from the Tao stick but not eject the metal pin or nib from the stick housing. At this point you will have access to use a straight tool to push the pin out. Find a STURDY or temporary tool like maybe a paperclip and carefully shove out the metal pin from the top. Lube up the replacement pin + nib, carefully apply pressure as you re-insert the replacement pin and do ensure the nib itself is fully inserting into the stick receptacle before applying full pressure. Screw back in the adjustment core and re-calibrate to original length or manually calibrate by feel.
Yet to install but these look amazing!
